How to Have a Bad Day

HOW TO HAVE A BAD DAY

Wake up late, preferably in a panic

Throw anything on and rush

Grab a coffee and a donut

Carry a sour face and complain

Criticize, blame and condemn

See your work as a necessary evil

Expect the worse.

Think derogatory thoughts

Pitch orders and don’t forget to nag

Take work home. Lifes no picnic

Gripe, grumble and overeat

Retire angry with a full stomach

Worry about tomorrow

Good health is no accident

Do you want to feel well and function fully in all areas of your life?

You are taking your medication to control your depression and I hope you have written down your goal of achieving total wellness. Know what total wellness means for you.

Resist the temptation to stop taking your medication because you feel better. Like a diabetic, you have a chemical problem which is being addressed by your medical treatment. Some diabetics function well and feel like a million dollars, but they have to take an injection every day to keep the disease at bay. Some Multiple Sclerosis patients who are CEOs of companies have to give themselves an injection every other every day to keep their disease at bay.

Create a clear picture in your mind of how you want to feel and how you want to function. Take your prescription diligently to control the disease and this will enable you to apply yourself to the next important step, which I will tell you about the next time we meet.

Do you know the difference between pleasure and happiness? Does pleasure lead to happiness?

Many people think that they can find happiness by investing in pleasure. They eat a wonderful meal and have a lot of sex and take big changes to create excitement and thrills on the highest ski slopes. These activities-though full of pleasure-often backfire, and we soon discover that pleasure can lead to sadness and regret rather than happiness. The great meal leads to indigestion or weight gain, the daring snowboarding moves lead to fractures, and even sex can lead to broken relationships and often STDs. So if you are looking for happiness know that it might not be on the same path as pleasure. The trick is to know which one you really want - pleasure or happiness. My new book THE TIME TO BE HAPPY IS NOW will give you some practical techniques to unravel this and help you to bring greater happiness to your life and your work in these tough economic times.

When things are going well we think its ok to be happy, but when things are going badly we think its natural to be unhappy. This means that we lay responsibility for our happiness on circumstances. We allow other people and the twists and turns of fortune to determine the quality of our journey through life. Here is a poem I learnt from Jo Pretty and it is in my new book, hot off the press THE TIME TO BE HAPPY IS NOW. Allow this poem to inspire you to exert control over your emotional state and not leave your feeling to fate.

It is easy to be happy when life flows by like a song,
But the one who's worthwhile
Is the one who can smile
When everything goes dead wrong

Take your happiness seriously and begin to do something about it. Read more in my new book available at www.kennedd.com
